Breathing Fresh Air – Taking a Break

by Robb Sutton

Last weekend, a group of us headed up to Pisgah Forest, NC for some rest and relaxation. Well…we consider it rest and relaxation, but in reality…it is a bunch of hardcore mountain bikers looking for some sweet singletrack to rip to pieces. Anyways…with everything that is going on with the economy, job market and other daily stresses, it was time to get out and breath that clean mountain air to clear out the head a little bit.

I have been extremely busy with all of these projects that are starting to grow a life of their own, and the stress starts to build up over time. I really have to remind myself to step back, relax and take a weekend like this every now and then to clear my head so that I can think more clearly for the future. So often…we get locked into a way of thinking that can be detrimental to our goals, and all it takes is stepping back for a second to regain mental clarity. As much as we try to do this in our daily lives, it is sometimes impossible. We really need to get away, even if it is for several hours, to regain that clarity that was lost.

After my weekend, I have a better sense of where I am, and where I need to be. Now I can better focus on goals instead of daily annoyances. As you can see by the picture by regularjoe, the air was clean and now…so is my head! Find some time for yourself so that your decisions are more productive.
