Are You The Solution?

by Robb Sutton

When you take a look over your blog…ask yourself one simple question… “Are you the solution?”

Potential blog readers search the web scouring for solutions to their problems. These solutions may be how-to, informational, advice or anything else that presents an answer to their problem. The fact is…search engine traffic is just that…in search of something.

How can I be the solution?

  • Be Entertaining – Entertainment will bring back visitors time and time again. While not thought of as a solution in the conventional sense, entertainment feeds the need of enjoyment in your readers. Providing unique, entertaining content will gravitate readers towards your blog and provide long lasting, engaged readers. When it boils down to it…we all want to be entertained.
  • Teach Through How To Articles – We have all heard this phrase…

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.

Even if it is grossly overused…it is true. If you can teach your readers through your content, you will engage them in their daily lives and create solid relationships. Every reader in every niche is looking to learn something new, even if they do not use it right away. By teaching your readers, you also become a resource of information for future use. This information can be passed along through email and other outlets that further extend your reach. Teach your readers skills and watch your traffic/subscriber base grow.

  • Be A Source Of Information – Position yourself as an expert in your niche by being the first source your readers turn to for information. This can be information on new products, industry news, product reviews, etc. The more useful and relevant information you provide, the more your readers will consider your blog as a valuable resource.
  • Engage With Your Readers – As you provide solutions to your readers problems, questions and need for fulfillment, questions are going to be presented. Answer EVERY QUESTION! If your readers are taking the time to engage with you and your content, extend that same courtesy to your readers. These questions can also be a spring board for new content ideas, so keep track of them as they appear. Always be respectful and treat others as you would wish to be treated.

As You Draft Your Next Blog Post…

As you draft your next blog post, look for solution based information that will engage your readers. If you are the solution, you will find that your blog grows with engaged, attentive readers that will spread your content like wildfire.
