You Are Lazy

You are lazy. When it comes to getting work done or watching your favorite TV show…you watch your favorite show. You have had a long day, don’t you deserve to relax a little? You know you should be getting something else productive done, but you push aside those feelings in favor of becoming a vegetable in front of a lit screen that projects pictures you have already seen a thousand times. That’s right…it is a re-run of a show that aired 5 years ago, but you still can’t seem to turn it off and do something that actually might make your life better.

You already know you are lazy. I don’t have to tell you this fact. But it is not your fault remember? It is society and the shell they put us in. That’s right! Why blame it on myself when the blame can fall on someone else?  I’ll feel better then. No responsibility for my own actions at all. In fact, taking responsibility for our own actions and outcomes is no longer in style anyway. It is cooler to find someone else to blame so that is the road we’ll take…

Hell…there was a time when I was lazy too. I loved the picture of sitting around doing nothing and then felt guilty about it later as I complained about not having enough time in the day. In all reality, I later found that there is plenty of time in the day. I just waited until the last minute or didn’t plan my time well enough to achieve the tasks of the day.

Do you think successful people call themselves lazy? I would venture to say they don’t, or…if they have…I haven’t heard it. Successful men and woman do not complain. They are too busy accomplishing to complain. When they are not accomplishing their goals, they are choosing to participate in activities that add value to their lives…instead of sucking the time away they never get back. They spend time with family, take vacations, enjoy nice things. Why are they able to do this? Because they use their “off-time” being successful at whatever skill they have mastered.

For the blogger, it is hard to fight off the lazy urge to put things off until tomorrow. As your own boss, you are the only one that can kick your own ass into gear and get up to do the work. That TV show will always be there. That nap that you just “have to have” can wait until you are done with the tasks for the day. Laziness is a bloggers worst enemy in the pursuit of a life that is better.

How can you expect to see success and be lazy at the same time?

Thanks for the reminder - procrastination is so much easier than actually doing the work and relaxing after.

Isn't that the truth. We all fight it from time to time.
