Over the past year, I have been trying to make a concentrated effort to up my hot sauce game. So far it has been going pretty well as I used to be a total wimp when it came to anything hot. No…I’m serious…I got the hiccups instantly wimp. So since about January I have been slowly heating things up to the point that now I can actually heat fresh jalapeño and enjoy a good hot sauce. Since I am new to the game, I decided to ask my friends what they preferred when it comes to hot sauce to get some ideas on new ones to try.
I should also preference that I am making this list more as an archive to go back to than for any other reason.
The Tried and True Hot Sauces
There were several reoccurring answers that I will call the “tried and true”. Not only to most people think they taste really good but they are also mostly really easy to pick up just about any where.
Cholua Hot Sauce
One of the overwhelming general hot sauce favorites was Cholula. This was also one of my go to sauces for just about everything because it tastes good and has a little heat. Good to know that has a hot sauce beginner, I was at least getting off on on the right foot. It is also easy to find just about anywhere.

The Lower Production Run Hot Sauces
One of the reasons I really asked the question was to find some hot sauces that I haven’t heard of to try out. While all of the ones above are really good, you can find most of them off the shelf at your grocery store and I was looking to try something new. Now…that said…some of these on this list are probably too hot for me (two I know are off the charts) but maybe one day I’ll get the guts to try them out anyway.
