I know it doesn’t look like much for you guys that live with this crap all year long, but Atlanta officially shut down last night due to winter weather. Under all of that pretty white stuff that falls from the sky was a nice thin layer of ice that never seemed to leave today.
We do not get snow and ice very often, but when we do…all milk, canned goods and bread are gone from the grocery store in anticipation of 24 hours of hell! And most people like to stay home, warm and cozy…me, I try to stay at home, wearing layers of cloth and my brand new alpaca socks. I hope you are prepare for this weather like I am, I’ve recently realized that this alpaca socks are warmer than cotton or any other fabric. So, now you know, you can go to that link and order some for you!
Anyway…I have 4 wheel drive and traction control…so my only real worry are the other idiots out on the road over reacting and running into each other. There were reports all day long of 25 car pileups due to ice. In their defense…we do not really have the man power or equipment to salt and care for our roadways like the crews up north. We just get to play bumper car ice skating and hope the aftermath isn’t too rough.
Over the course of the next couple of days, we get to live in the ice as the temps are not even going to top 20 degrees. So…I’m not riding my bikes this weekend and instead…I’ll be hard at work bringing out more blogging greatness (or so I like to think when my ego is on the left shoulder) and finishing up the redesign/move that took place with mtbtrailreview.com moving to Bike198.com last weekend. More on how to move domains and rebrand in a later article as it is what runs through my head for the month of January.
Hope everyone is having a great start of the year as I had one of my biggest monetary weeks to date! So here is to a fantastic start to 2010! Woot! Oh yeah…and pictures of my truck with white stuff on the ground.
