Free eBook: Problogging Is Dead

For awhile now, I have been searching for a way to help bloggers make money online. I knew the information I want to set forth…I just had no clue how I wanted to format it. After a lot of going back and forth trying different blog posts, I realized this was only going to work as a free eBook. After some splicing, “Problogging Is Dead” was born and free to the public.

Problogging Is Dead

Bloggers struggle to make money online. Many…if not all…bloggers have zero business owning experience and are looking for a way to become self sufficient through their own doing. So…to overcome this, bloggers need to take a serious look at how money is made through blogging in today’s atmosphere. The “problogging” days are gone. What we are left with is a lot stronger business model of actually creating resources online that are valuable to our readers and generate income at the same time

If you are struggling to make money online or are only making enough to get by…this is your ticket to freedom. The old ways of doing things (that many people are still doing) are gone. If you are expecting to make a great deal of money by throwing up some Adsense and writing articles, you are going to continue to wait.

“Problogging Is Dead” is going to show you how to make a significant income online and you do not even have to give away an email address to get it! This is something I wanted to do for you guys as a thanks for everything you have given me over the years.

Really looking forward to reading this, Robb! There's a problem with the PDF, but I'll try again as soon as I get into the office. Should prove to be interesting, like the rest of your postings. Oh, nice video intro to the book!
Robb Sutton February 1, 2010 - 8:28 am
Should download ok...I have tried it on several computers. If you are still having an issue, shoot me an email and I get it over to you that way.

Thanks Rob, I got it at the office. Perhaps it's an issue with my home machine. Took a quick scan through the book - love the format, and you made a great selection of case studies. Thanks!

It said "file couldn't be repaired" when I clicked on the image using Firefox, but right-clicking "Save As a Link" worked fine. Thanks Robb. I'll be tweeting...

Rob, Your new ebook is fabulous! The cooking site case study is extremely valuable for people who are floundering with monetizing their blog. As with Ramped Blogging, and Ramped Reviews, this book gives very specific information that people can take action on right away. Also, gorgeous design. Thank you again, Debbie Ferm
Robb Sutton February 1, 2010 - 9:08 am
Thanks for the input Debbie! That is exactly what I was going for.

Congrats on the new eBook launch, Rob! Can't wait to tear into it. :) Also, is this a video courtesy of the zi8? ;)
Robb Sutton February 1, 2010 - 10:22 am
Actually it is! I am posting up what I think about the Zi8 tomorrow. Pretty impressive for such a little camera.

I'm liking it a lot too. I've been playing with various external mics trying to find the best mate for it.

Rob this is great stuff! You exposed how bloggers really make money online. I feel the same way about adsense. I don't even recommend it to people starting out. I follow the same bloggers you do and you laid down an income blueprint on how they make money online outside of the MMO niche. You could have easily charged for this ebook but you gave it away for free. So I will help you spread the word by bookmarking and tweeting to my list. Thanks dude! Samuel
Robb Sutton February 1, 2010 - 1:22 pm
Thanks for the support Samuel. I really wanted to get this in the hands of as many bloggers as possible, so charging for it went against that goal. Sometimes free is a good thing!

It's Launched! I was waiting for it.... :)

Great stuff, Robb. I really like the way you write. The information in ebook is short and to-the-point. Especially the case studies, they are all written within 1 page. I was expecting the practical application on your success. Nevertheless, the "cooking example" is still brilliant. The examples in your ebook reminds me about the growing process of a big tree. It all started with a small tiny seed, then it started to grow roots to give it a "strong foundation" and eventually it becomes a strong tree that provides shade and fruits years after years.
Robb Sutton February 1, 2010 - 1:23 pm
Thanks Louis. I try to present information in a way that I would like it presented to me. Nice to know that connects with other people as well. Blogging is a growing process for sure...you always have to remember...everyone starts with one article.

Looking forward to finishing this read. It has been good so far. Another great down to Earth approach. Thank Robb!

Thanks Mike. I really like what you are doing with Mike's Brew Review.

I love your disclaimers. Does many others read them? Since I love your Ramped Blogging ebook, I am sure I will enjoy this. Had trouble get your video to work. I finally turn off the HD button and then it work ok. ( I didn't know there was a HD button till I accidentally put my cursor over it.)
Robb Sutton February 1, 2010 - 1:24 pm
You know what...I don't think many people read them at all according to my analytics. Glad you like them though!

Impressive read, i agree with the idea that many bloggers out there simply jump the bandwagon and go about running after the cash, which is not always fruitful in the long run. You need to create that niche for yourself, an identity and readers would love it. Thanks for sharing the book!
Robb Sutton February 2, 2010 - 7:26 am
Thanks Sardar. Running after the cash is never a model that works. Cash comes from creating value and that will never change. Thanks for your feedback!

Hey Rob, I started following you a few weeks ago on Twitter and have been happy for your help. I like the book. It's short and substantive and the tips very useful (i.e. the cooking website's development of a newsletter, warnings against sporadic posting, generating revenue through indirect methods). Keep up the good work.
Robb Sutton February 2, 2010 - 7:27 am
Hey Felipe! Thanks for the feedback! That is exactly what I was going for with "Problogging Is Dead".
Allan Ward February 1, 2010 - 6:09 pm
Well done Rob. You've written a great ebook that tells the truth - most of the famous probloggers have real businesses that make money for them. If you want to make money online, you need to start thinking of it the same as running a business - have goals, objectives, financial goals etc - and work your butt off to achieve them. There's a big difference between making a few hundred dollars a month from a blog and making thousands from an online business. Great book.
Robb Sutton February 2, 2010 - 7:28 am
Allan, I think there is a lot of false information out there by bloggers who want to make a name for themselves by over hyping their opinions. This ebook set out to be the truth about making money blogging. And you are right...that difference between a few hundred dollars and thousands is a mindset.

I've downloaded the ebook and will read it when it is quiet and peaceful and absorb the knowledge. Thank you.

Hey Rob, Great book man! Appreciate the 'no opt-in' policy too. I am inspired and may borrow your reporter format for an e-book within my own niche. Your story is encouraging also...commute from Marietta to Athens? Geez! Feel free to drop by our site. Comments and critiques are most welcome. Until then take care. -J
Robb Sutton February 2, 2010 - 7:30 am
I wanted to get this thing out there to as many people as possible. The only real way to do that is no opt in...so that is what I ended up doing! There are times to charge, times to opt in and times to just give away the farm! That was a long commute and a difficult time in my life that made me stronger. It was crazy, but I wouldn't change the way things happened. Made me who I am today.
