I was walking through a production plant the other day when this shot struck a cord with me. So often…we do 100% of the work for 20% of the money. This robotic welder is the extreme…work all the time with no pay, but that is how it feels when you are working your 9-5. The reality is that the 9-5’s have now become the 8-6’s.

My goal…as should be everyone’s…is to apply that 80/20 rule to my life that you hear most successful people talk about (Pareto’s Principle). Make 20% of your work produce 80% of your income. This equals the 2 hour work day. Is it possible? Sure…if you are dedicated enough.

You can apply this 80/20 rule to just about every aspect of you life. 20% of your inventory equals 80% of your business…20% of your time equals 80% of your happiness.

The truth is that most of us would not be doing the job we are now if money was no object. The lucky few that have their dream job…would still do it differently. The goal is to become more productive with the time we have to reap the rewards and enjoy life.

Try not to be the robotic welder. Don’t get stuck in the routine and get outside of the box.
