Logitech Harmony Companion Review – Smart Home Remote

This is a video review of the Logitech Harmony Companion. With the universal remote and the smart home hub, you are able to control you TV and multimedia devices along with all of your smart home products. I review the performance, setup and features of the Logitech Harmony Companion and how it compares to more expensive options for universal remotes.

What do you not get with the Harmony Companion

• No touch screen
• No clicky plastic buttons
• No visual representation on what activity you are on

Pro’s of the Harmony Companion

• One remote that does everything in the house and even overlaps other activities in the house
• No touch operation through smart home devices like Amazon Alexa and Google Home
• With cable and satellite you can change to specific channels through voice. Great when you are in the kitchen or the remote is on the other side of the room.
• A lot of fun with activities like “movie mode” to dim lights as you pick to watch a movie source
• Customize buttons by source
• Easy to use phone and computer applications
• Reasonable price

Cons of the Harmony Companion

• Buttons leave a lot to be desired.
• No visual representation on what activity you are in can cause some cofusion
• Not as smart with streaming services like YouTube TV or Hulu TV
• Seven Hugs is the only real competition but it is all touch screen. I am still old school and like some remote buttons. Can run into issues with the apple tv remote. Does have contextual awareness with sensors though for single house remote use. You have to go to the Harmony Pro for those features.
