RobbSutton.com publishes hands-on reviews and guides covering home office equipment, smart home devices, wearables and consumer technology. Everything here is editorial opinion based on testing, and it is offered as general information.

Reviews are one person’s testing, not a laboratory result

Products reviewed here are tested in a real working household — on a real network, alongside the other hardware already installed. That is the point of the exercise, and it is also its limit. One unit, one environment, one set of habits.

Your results may differ. A router that behaves impeccably in this house may struggle in yours. A chair that suits me may not suit your back. Where something can be measured it is measured; where it cannot — comfort, build feel, whether a thing is pleasant to live with — it is described as a judgement and labelled as one.

Information goes out of date

Firmware updates change how products behave, sometimes substantially and sometimes for the worse. Manufacturers revise hardware without changing the model name. Prices move constantly, and any price quoted was accurate when written.

When an update materially alters a verdict, the review is updated and the change noted with a date. Even so, check current specifications, compatibility and pricing with the manufacturer or retailer before you buy.

Not professional advice

Nothing here is professional advice — not electrical, not medical, not financial, not legal.

Two areas deserve naming directly. Installation: smart home guides sometimes touch on mains wiring, permanently installed lighting and network hardware. If a job calls for an electrician, hire one. Health data: wearables and sleep trackers produce numbers that look medical and are not. They are consumer devices, not diagnostic instruments, and nothing written here about them should be used to diagnose, treat or make decisions about a health condition. Talk to a doctor.

Affiliate links

This site earns commission on some outbound product links, including as an Amazon Associate. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not influence any verdict — plenty of reviews here end in “don’t buy this,” and those pages carry affiliate links too. The full explanation is on the Affiliate Disclosure page.

Liability

Decisions you make after reading this site are your own. To the fullest extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for loss or damage arising from use of this site or from any product bought after reading about it here. The full position is in the Terms of Service.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell me. Corrections are published, not buried. How reviews are produced is set out on the Methodology page.
