If you have been following my home office setup, you know that sound deadening is a priority. Between recording videos for my YouTube channel and holding conference calls, good quality audio is non-negotiable.
Recently, I decided to tackle the echo in my office caused by LVT flooring and drywall while also upgrading the room’s aesthetics. I installed the Felt Right Wood Slat Panels, and in this wood slat wall review, I’m going to break down the installation, the acoustic performance, and whether the cost is worth the final result.
The Problem: Echo and Aesthetics
My home office had a few challenges. The hard surfaces created a lot of reverb, which is distracting during calls and lowers production quality for videos. Installation Process
One of the biggest questions with a project like this is: How hard is it to install?
Honestly, if you know how to use a tape measure and a saw, you can get this done in a very short period of time. The panels are designed to interlock seamlessly as you move across the wall, which makes the main run very easy.
Key Installation Tips:
- Cutting: You will likely need to cut the panels to fit around power outlets or structural indentations (like I had on the left side of my wall).
- The Saw: Because these use real solid wood, you need a saw to cut them. I used a hand saw, which worked fine, but you have to be careful.
- Technique: Hold the wood slats firmly in place against the felt while cutting. If you aren’t careful, the wood can separate from the felt backing during the cut.
Acoustic Performance: Do They Actually Work?
I have reviewed Felt Right products before, specifically their standard felt pads. Those standard pads have a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) rating of roughly 35% (meaning they absorb 35% of sound waves).
However, the addition of the wood slats on top of the felt actually improves performance. These wood slat panels boast an NRC rating of 55%.

Is it worth it? There are cheaper options on the market, but many of them cut corners by using laminate or faux wood instead of solid wood. With Felt Right, you are paying for:
