Blogging. Fatherhood. Business Building. It's all here.

What did you do this Saturday morning?

So what did you do this morning? When my two Boxers woke me up at 6:45 am on this beautiful Saturday morning, I decided to head outside and enjoy the sunrise while I worked on some blogging for the upcoming week. I took the dogs out with me so they could play for awhile and instead of working…I ended up taking some shots of them! So much for being productive…

I am not sure what I would do without my dogs. They are always a bright spot in my day and to watch them play is absolutely hilarious. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Boxers, they really do box. I swear my neighbors must think that we are running a Michael Vick dog fighting ring over here, but I promise they are just playing! This shot was taken while my male brindle Hans was “hunting” Hemi…our female. She was just sitting next to me watching as he inched closer and closer. As you can see by the lack of grass in our backyard, our dogs love chasing each other in circles until they are ready to fall over from exhaustion. I don’t think I’ll ever have grass, but it is worth it to watch my Boxers do their thing.

Shot was taken with a Nikon D80 and the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D AF Lens, and edited with Adobe Lightroom 2.

Why I Carry My Nikon D80 With Me Everywhere!

I have gotten into the habit of carrying my Nikon D80 with me everywhere. Why do I do this? Because you never know when you will stumble upon a great shot. The worst feeling is seeing the shot with no camera to capture it.

Nashville, TN Skyline and Bridge

I was driving home to Atlanta from Louisville, KY last week when I saw an amazing sight. The sun was setting behind the Nashville, TN cityscape leaving beautiful reds, blues and yellows. I pulled off the highway when I saw the bridge lit up like a Christmas tree looking for a place to capture the image. It was 28 degrees and windy outside while I was running through parking lots trying to get the right angle before the sun completely set. [Read more...]

Are You Building A Business Or A Hobby?

This is the question you should ask yourself before starting any website or online venture.

Let me start by saying…either one is perfectly fine! The answer to the question is the important part because it determines your goals and which road your blog is going to take in the future.

To determine whether you are building a business or a hobby…you should ask yourself some very specific questions.

  • Are you looking to make money from your blog?
  • Do you want a way to communicate with friends and family?
  • Are you feeling a need in your niche?
  • Are you prepared for your hobby to carry increased responsibility?
  • Have you heard that blogging can be a fun way to express your individuality and thoughts?

Water Reflection In The Fall

My favorite part about fall in the southeast United States is the weather (perfect for mountain biking) and the colors. This year we have an unbelievable amount of fall reds and yellows. I believe this is due to some good rain that we got right before the turn.

On a ride at Fort Yargo over the weekend, I took some time before the ride to walk around with the wife and our dog. This shot of the lake with the fallen leaves really caught my eye. The clarity of the air a day after a hard rain is incredible. Add to that…the yellows of the leaves on dirty lake water make for a great shot. [Read more...]

I was walking through a production plant the other day when this shot struck a cord with me. So often…we do 100% of the work for 20% of the money. This robotic welder is the extreme…work all the time with no pay, but that is how it feels when you are working your 9-5. The reality is that the 9-5′s have now become the 8-6′s. [Read more...]

Handicapped without the parking space…

My first post on robb sutton dot com…and it seems rather fitting. Do you ever get the feeling that you are handicapped without the parking space?

Sometimes…it seems like you are being held back for no reason while others get the breaks. In reality…you have to make your own breaks in life. The greatest things come out of the people that work the hardest…productively…towards a goal. Those that wait on handouts…will always be waiting.

Make your own happiness in your life. You will be surprised how far you can really get when you put your mind to it. Have one of those ideas that you always though you should try? TRY IT! What is the worst that can happen?

Life is what you make it…and you need  to start making it what you want it to be…not what others are forcing upon you.

The time is now!
