Louis CK was interviewed on Conan O’Brian a couple of months ago and watching this sequence cracks me up every time. I had to share it! He perfectly explains our incredible, microwave generation that is used to instant information with a sense of entitlement. I think sometimes we need to laugh at ourselves like this in order to see that…even during the rough times…we have it pretty damn good. If you step back and take a look at how far technology and society has come in a very short period of time, it really is amazing. As I sit here, typing away on a laptop that has more power than the $10,000 editing towers I used to use 9 years ago, it is hard to argue how great advancements in technology has made our lives, and instead of taking that for granted…we need to enjoy what we have.
Do I think we need to live on donkey’s for awhile?! Absolutely not! I like motor vehicles and where they take me, but I do think people need to step back and look at what they take for granted on a daily basis. When he starts talking about the old way things were done, I found myself laughing at comments I have made over just this past week. I was complaining about my iPhone not downloading a song off of iTunes fast enough, and…not that long ago…we were all tied to 5k downloads on dial-up greeted by funny sounding harmonics from our computers and a “You’ve Got Mail” message. Wow…how things have changed…
Anyways…watch the clip…laugh a little…and have an incredible weekend no matter what you have planned. Oh yeah…if you are flying this weekend, do exactly as he said and watch for the reactions!
